WE GRADUATED!!!

John and I both graduated on April 24th, 2009. 4 years flew by. I also received my first job offer at Baptist Medical Center South on 5A, which specializes in peritoneal dialysis. I start orientation June 10th and will complete an 8-12 week internship before I start on the floor on my own. I plan on taking the NLCEX-RN before my birthday.
John will begin Physical Therapy school at the University of St. Augustine in September. We both feel very blessed at this time in our lives.

Sigma Theta Tau Induction

I was invited to join Sigma Theta Tau Lambda Rho Chapter at Large. This Honor's Society invites those in the top 1/3 of their nursing class to join. I remember my first day of nursing school, sitting in an auditorium, listening to the director of nursing. She went through every page of our student handbook, one by one, informing us of what to expect throughout the next 2 years. When she discussed Sigma Theta Tau and what an honor it is to be an invited to join the local chapter, I knew I had to earn it. Although I would have to say, there were many times throughout the program when it got really tough and all I wanted to do was quit. Keeping Sigma Theta Tau in the back of my mind and how I felt that first day kept me trying harder. What a great feeling to be at the end of my goal, graduating nursing school, and being inducted into Nursing's highest honor. On Wednesday April 15th, 2009 12 out of 48 students were inducted into Sigma Theta Tau.

Another Russell

Bean will be our newest addition! He is a 5 weeks old (DOB: February 28th, 2009) yellow Labrador, so we are being forced to wait 3 more weeks to bring him home, which means he will be the perfect Graduation gift! He is one of seven in the litter, 4 males & 3 females. He is the lightest in color and the fattest! His dad is a 2-year-old white lab named Gunner and his mom is a 2-year-old yellow lab named Chloe. At 5 weeks he weighs 8lbs! Chloe's owner tells me he is the bully of the bunch. He likes to pick on all his sisters. He is also the first one to sniff out the meals!!! Always the first one in line! We are both very excited to bring him home, Reese will finally have some one to play with all day (as opposed to eating the plantain trees alone).
